Boxing Day is not a corporate merch date in continental Europe. On 26 December 2026 the same day is St Stephen's Day, a public holiday in Germany, Austria, Poland, Spain and elsewhere, and in 2026 it also falls on a Saturday. Recipients are not at work, not shopping and mostly not online.

What Boxing Day is

A British and Commonwealth public holiday on 26 December, historically associated with giving to servants and tradespeople and now dominated by retail sales and sport. In the nine markets we ship into, the same date is St Stephen's Day, the second day of Christmas and a family day. Most companies are closed from Christmas Eve until after New Year.

Should you do merch for it?

No. The workplace gift exchange usually suggested for this date cannot happen, because in Germany, Austria, Poland and Spain nobody is in the office.

Delivery is the other half of the problem. Parcels scheduled into those markets around the 26th sit in a depot until the following week, so a gift intended for Christmas arrives after it. The days between Christmas and New Year are not working days for approvals, production or transit either.

What to do instead

The catch is lead time. A January delivery is produced in autumn, because nothing is made or shipped during the shutdown. For Spanish recipients there is a better local option: the traditional gifting day is Reyes Magos on 6 January, which lines up with a January dispatch rather than fighting it.
